Breonna Taylor’s Family Calls for Release of Grand Jury Transcript.

Breonna Taylor’s Family Calls for Release of Grand Jury Transcript. Two days after a Kentucky Grand Jury declined to indict three Louisville Police Officers in the death of Breonna Taylor, the late 26-year-old’s family is calling for the release of the proceeding’s transcript. In a press conference on Friday, civil rights attorney Ben Crump said Taylor’s family has the right to know why justice isn’t being served in her death. “When we think about this grand jury proceeding, if you want us to accept the result, release the transcripts so we can have transparency,” Crump said. In a statement read by a family member, Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, blamed the failure to charge any of the officers with murder on Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron. “I knew he was too inexperienced to deal with a job of this caliber,” Palmer said. “I knew he had already chosen to be on the wrong side of the law. The moment he wanted the grand jury to make the decision, what I had hoped was that he knew he had the power to do the right thing, that he had the power to start the healing of this city, that he had the power to help mend over 400 years of oppression.” Should grand jury transcripts always be released after decisions like this?
