Former President Obama addressed the recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arberry. He spoke via Zoom for My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation. The killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arberry and the loss of far too many Black lives to list have left our nation anguished and outraged. While now is a time for grief and anger, it is also a time for resolve. He also addressed many on social media who do not see the point in voting or have discussed “holding the vote.” Voting vs. protest. This is not an either or. This is both. To bring about real change we both have to highlight a problem and make people in power uncomfortable but we also have to translate that into practical solutions and laws. 2020 has been a rough year and we are only 6 months in. How hopeful are you about the future?
