A biopic about Mahalia Jackson will premiere at opening night of the Pan African Film & Arts Festival. It’s titled, Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story. The film will cover her childhood trauma, her career, close friendship with Martin Luther King, Jr and her contribution to the Civil Rights Movement.
The lead role will be played by Ledisi. Columbus Short will play Martin Luther King, Jr. The cast also includes Janet Hubert, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Vanessa A. Williams, Keith David, Corbin Bleu and Keith Robinson. The movie will premiere on Tuesday April 19 at 7p in LA at the PAFF at the Directors Guild of America.
