LL Cool J Wins “Rock the Bells” Trademark Lawsuit The Rock the Bells Hip-Hop Festival now must have LL Cool J’s permission to use the name. LL filed suit against the promoters last year. The festival is using the title of LL’s classic track from 1985. The judge ruled that LL Cool J is the “exclusive owner” of the Rock the Bells trademark. Anyone wanting to use those words for promotion or merchandise must go through him. The promoting company, Guerilla Union, had tried to file for the trademark back in 2004. Now, they must turn over everything related to Rock the Bells by May 10th.  Have you ever bought a bootleg item that wasn’t officially licensed? What was it?
