Martin Luther King, Jr. Assassinated On This Date 54 Years Ago in Memphis Tennessee.

In 1968, King was shot at the former Lorraine Motel and he later died at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

On Thursday April 4th 1968, at 6:05pm, The Rev Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr was shot while standing on a balcony outside his second-floor room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

The hotel is now a National museum.
