Millions Miss the Big Game as TV Channels and Carriers Battle Over Fees—Who’s Got the Remote Now?

DirectTV subscribers were caught off guard when popular channels like ABC and ESPN suddenly went dark on Sunday night. This happened after Disney Entertainment and DirectTV failed to reach a new rights agreement, causing all Disney channels to disappear from the service. The blackout has been especially frustrating for sports fans, interrupting ESPN’s coverage of the U.S. Open and blacking out the LSU-USC college football game.
This isn’t the first time viewers have been left in the dark due to a rights dispute—last year, a similar situation lasted for 12 days. Have you been affected by these blackouts? Are you considering cutting the cord and moving away from traditional cable or satellite services? Let us know your thoughts!
