NBA Star Dwayne Wade Supports Son at Pride Parade

NBA star Dwayne Wade told Variety that he had no idea how much backlash he would get for supporting his son, Zion, at a pride parade in April. Wade said “I’m very uneasy about the accolades that come from supporting my kids or the negativity that comes with it. I’m doing what every parent should do.”

Wade said growing up in Chicago he wasn’t shown a lot of support, adding “It’s my job to be that role model to let them know that you have the support of your father, you have the support of your family every step of the way. So go and be your amazing self, and we’re gonna sit back and love you and support you no matter what.”
