Serena Williams Finally Appears On Her Own Wheaties Box How do sports figures know when they’ve finally made it? Forget the big money sports contract or major endorsements. Chances are they’ll tell you that moment comes when they appear on the Wheaties cereal box. Certainly, Serena Williams would agree, who finally gets her due from “The Breakfast of Champions”. Taking to Instagram, the four-time Olympic gold medalist noted, “In 2001, Wheaties paid homage to a true champion and an icon by putting her on the cover of a Wheaties Box. Althea Gibson was the FIRST Black Woman tennis player to be on the box. Today, I am honored to be the second.” In a posting to General Mills’ blog, Williams revealed, “I have dreamt of this since I was a young woman,” adding, “I hope my image on this iconic orange box will inspire the next generation of girls and athletes to dream big.” Which other athletes should be considered for the Wheaties box?
