Tyler Perry On Oscar Snubs: ‘It Is What It Is’

Tyler Perry on Oscar Snubs: ‘It Is What It Is’ Tyler Perry was one of many people who were upset over the Oscars snub of Jennifer Lopez. TMZ caught up with the producer and director to see how he was feeling on Monday, “I’m upset man…J.Lo didn’t get nominated, are you kidding me? J.Lo and Awkwafina didn’t get nominated. She should have gotten nominated. That’s crazy.” Fans also shared their feelings about Lopez’s absence from the nominations on Twitter with one user writing, “I don’t care what anyone else says, @JLo is my nominee AND winner. And that’s that on that. #OscarNoms.” Perry also noted the absence of Lupita Nyong’o for her role in Us as well as Awkwafina for her role in The Farewell.  Hustlers was Lopez’s biggest cinema opening of her career, bringing in $33.2 million. The Best Supporting Actress nominations instead went to Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell), Laura Dern (Marriage Story) Florence Pugh (Little Women), Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit) and Margot Robbie (Bombshell). Did the Academy get it right? Do you think Jennifer Lopez should have been nominated for her role in Hustlers?
