What To Do If You Lose Power During The Ice Storm

Here are some things you can do if you experience a power outage.

Keep Cold Air Out and keep all doors and windows to the outside shut tight. Also check to see if you have cracks or gaps near windows and doors, if so, you can use towels or a rolled-up blanket placed in front of the gap to stop drafts. If the outage is at night, close the curtains or blinds!

DO NOT START YOUR CAR IN A CLOSED GARAGE OR RUN GENERATORS Inside Enclosed Areas!

If you have to cook, but your stove is off, you can get or use your charcoal or gas grill safely outdoors! Think about getting bags of ice and keep them in a cooler! Bottled water, non-perishable foods too, like peanut butter and jelly, tuna packets, prepared food packs, and staples like bread, crackers, chips, nuts and other snacks.

Have plenty of candles! You may even want to get the kind that are flameless! Flashlights work but don’t forget to check the batteries in them. Solar night lights are a good idea too.

Make sure all your electronics, such as cell phones, laptops and tablets are fully charged! In the event you need updates, you can always log on and listen to Magic 101.3 to find out everything you need to know!

Additionally, if it is safe to go outside, check to see if your neighbors are without power. If so, call us right away to report the outage.
