Why Are Eggs So Expensive Right Now?

Just when you thought things would go back to being cheap…NOPE! The price of eggs is up! You’re probably wondering why? Well, the average price of a dozen eggs is $4.25 cents right now. It has even risen to $7 in some cities across the country. Eggs are the sole reason for the increase in your grocery bill. The main reason is the Avian Bird Flu that broke out and is hurting the egg industry, along with feed, fuel and costs to get eggs to your local grocery store! There has been an increase in egg consumption by 17% over the last decade…we’re eating more eggs, so the supply is less, and the demand is higher. So the next time you get eggs at a decent price, just say it was “egg-cellent!”
